Homeless in Texas are used as mobile hotspots

Bartle Bogle Hegarty from Texas organized an original campaign: free internet for Austin residents via mobile hotspots that constantly move around the city. At the same time, the company found a way to reduce the cost of transporting equipment: they simply distributed 4G-to-WiFi routers to homeless people in Austin. Those are constantly on the street, and their movements perfectly correspond to such work.

If someone wants to go online, it’s enough to find a nearby homeless person nearby.

The official site of the Homeless Hotspot project shows the current coordinates of 13 hot spots. As you can see on the map, right now they are gathered in the city center.

“My name is Clarence, I'm a 4G hotspot. Send SMS HH Clarence to 25827 to gain access. www.homelesshotspots.org ”, - this inscription is emblazoned on the shirt of one of the Austin homeless (see video ).

Homeless Hotspot is a charity project , and the organizers do not pursue any commercial goals. You can use hotspot for free, but anyone can pay a token amount that the homeless person has the right to keep.
