Apple closes iWork service

Apple has sent a letter to users of the iWork service, which states that management intends to close the service. This letter indicates that with the advent of iCloud there is no need to ensure the operation of the iWork service. Closing is scheduled for July 31 of this year.

Previously, this service, some fans of Apple products called "killer Google Docs". In general, the killer did not work, but still the service could become quite popular. In any case, during his work, users have downloaded more than 40 million different kinds of documents. After closing the service, all these documents will be deleted, so users are advised to download important documents to local PCs. It is worth noting that in itself iWork only allowed to view documents, and not to create or edit.

iWork allowed to work together, leaving comments on the document. Collaboration was possible not only for Apple iWork users, but also for Windows users who worked with documents in the Microsoft Office environment.

Apple has created its service in 2009, and so far it has been in beta test. Nevertheless, the functionality of the service was sufficient for working with office documents (as mentioned above, without the possibility of editing them). The developers claim that all service users can start working with iCloud synchronization services this summer, which will be built into Mac OS X Mountain Lion.
