Virtual girl takes money from users of mobile devices based on Android
Hello!
In the period from December 31, 2011 to February 26, 2012, users of ICQ-compatible instant messaging applications were literally overwhelmed by a wave of spam advertising the new affiliate program of the site cowslab.com.
The owners of this resource are distributing an application for the Android mobile platform, called I-Girl. ')
The program is a chat bot, demonstrated on the screen of a mobile device in the image of a pretty girl.
The developers claim that with the bot, you can conduct meaningful dialogues by typing your cues on the keyboard in the form of text messages.
Now the advertising of this application can be seen on the Internet everywhere: from subject blogs and forums, to spam in IM messengers and social networks.
The developers of this application are actively attracting Internet users for the purpose of its dissemination: for this, those who need to register on the affiliate program website and get a unique identification number.
Then the distributor is offered a link to download the so-called "demo" of the I-Girl program and its full version. Agents must distribute the chat bot using all available methods, since their income directly depends on it.
The program allows you to conduct a real-time conversation with the virtual girl on the screen, the user can even undress her.
However, after some time, it is unexpectedly discovered that the subscriber account of the owner of the mobile device has "lost" by a certain amount, depending on the duration of the "conversation" - from several hundred to several thousand rubles.
In addition, it happens that the girl on the screen "silent", and the money from the user's mobile account, meanwhile, is actively written off. It turns out that to communicate with the bot you need to pay for each message with a special virtual currency - “votes”, and in order to replenish the balance, the program invisible to the user sends paid SMS to premium numbers.
In addition, I-Girl sends the ID of the mobile device on which it is installed to the developers site of the program.
For the sake of fairness, it should be noted that the mention of the cost of services is contained in the text of the User Agreement attached to the program, but if the user does not familiarize himself with its provisions in advance, he may lose a significant amount in his account.
Most of the income received in this way goes to the developers of the program, and a certain percentage is transferred to the distributor.
In addition, an agent can invite cowslab.com and other users to the site, subsequently receiving a certain percentage of their income - in this way, the developers create a kind of MLM structure for distributors of their creation.
I-Girl itself does not pose a direct threat to the Android end-user operating system, however, Doctor Web considered it necessary to add it to the list of potentially dangerous software, since this application, firstly, threatens users' welfare, and secondly , spreads using malware-specific methods: forced redirection of visitors to the program’s distributor site and through annoying spam emails.
