Facebook will warn the Germans about the use of user data
In Germany, the trial, which has been going on since 2010, has come to a logical conclusion. The process was initiated by an organization that deals with consumer protection. The name of this German organization is VZBV, Verbrauchercentrale Bundesver. As already mentioned, this organization in 2010 filed a lawsuit against the social network Facebook. The only claim to the social network is the illegal use of data from users of its resource. The lawsuit was filed in a German district court.
The Germans were unhappy that the social network uses and analyzes user data (in particular, through the Friend Finder service). German human rights activists were not satisfied with the fact that the “friends” search mechanism works immediately with all user data, and not with any specific characteristics. Sometimes a social network also uses a method of attracting new users, which is based on the same service Friend Finder. ')
One of the Facebook users is looking for an unregistered user on certain parameters, and Facebook then sends the registration invitations to the very citizens sought. Thus, the German laws (probably, not only, but the trial began in Germany) for the protection of private information are violated. The ruling of the German district court indicates the need to inform users that all their information will be used in the interests of Facebook. Thus, now social network developers will have to develop mechanisms for warning users from Germany, who will now receive complete information on how and where their data will be used.
The company argues that no one will dispute the court decision, but the implementation of this decision will take quite a long time, so instantly it will not work out in practice.
