Officially presented Xeon E5 processors and servers on them from major manufacturers
On March 6, 2012, Intel officially introduced the Xeon E5-2600 and E5-1600 processors, replacing the Xeon 5600. The new models have increased the number of cores to 8 and the amount of RAM supported is 384 GB per processor when using LRDIMM modules. The main difference between the E5-1600 and the E5-2600 is the lack of support for multiprocessor configurations in the younger series.
The new line on the Sandy Bridge-EP architecture includes 29 models from 2 to 8 cores, with a frequency from 1.8 to 3.6 GHz and TDP from 60 to 150 W:
In the new lines there are many innovations about which the vendors themselves will write in more detail, from the general I would like to point out the course for energy efficiency (especially considering E5 consumption), four gigabit network adapters in the base with the ability to install 10 GbE adapters, support up to 768 GB of RAM and available SSD -kapiteli as a replacement for conventional hard drives.
