A week ago, Digium announced the upgrade of Unified Communications - Switchvox. The transition occurred from version 5.1 to version 5.5.
The main goal of the release is to add support for Digium IP phones in Switchvox PBXs.
')
And for granted, several new features and improvements have been added: The main ones are:
Email messages are now sent with UTF8 encoding.
Phonebook entries are displayed correctly with UTF8 encoding.
Digium technical support access can be activated via the physical server management console. (For example, if access via the web interface is impossible)
Call Status Rules
New status in the system: “Do Not Disturb”: calls from the queue are rejected, and direct calls go directly to voice mail.
Calls based on status are the “feature” that users of corporate PBXs have been waiting for. For example, if you have moved away from the workplace, your jabber-client will automatically set the “Unavailable” status in the system, and based on this, the calls will start to go to the mobile number.
And if you go to a meeting with a potential client, the calls will be sent to the conference room. Convenient, right?
There are lots of implementations, and a little later I will test this possibility, of course, with a report on the HABR.
And finally, about the latest news from Digium - IP phones.
Digium phones (reviewed earlier) are even more tightly integrated with Switchvox than Snom and Polycom phones. You can import a notebook, favorite contacts, change your status, etc. And also allow you to visualize the queue.
To install and administer these phones, you don’t even need to know what a CLI is, a web interface, or an IP address. Simply insert the patchcord in the network, and in the administrative panel of the Switchvox assign the subscriber number.
According to the latest information, Digium did not request $ 30 for the licensing (Phone Feature Pack) of its own phones. Otherwise, it would be “riding the greed” :)
