Windows 8 Camp - as it were

Probably, many have already heard that on March 2, a conference of Windows 8 Camp took place in Moscow, dedicated to the release of the new version of Windows 8 Consumer Preview. This event attracted a lot of attention from specialists who directly participated in the conference, as well as from many professionals who closely followed the online broadcast .

Of course, such a company as DevExpress could not disregard such a significant event in the field of creating modern Metro applications using Visual Studio 11, since lately we ourselves have been actively working on our product lineup under WinRT. It was interesting for us to talk live with the Russian representatives of Microsoft and discuss with them the prospects for the development of the new platform, as well as the specifics of development for it.

And for the same reason, we were particularly attracted by two reports: “Developing Metro style apps on XAML / C #” (Stanislav Pavlov) and “Metro style app design” (Konstantin Kichinsky). The first report turned out to be very interesting in terms of using the existing developments in DevAM in the field of XAML and talked about the new features of WinRT for .NET developers. The second topic was devoted to fundamental changes in the user interface of Windows 8 and the principles of creating new applications in the style of Metro .

Recall that all the video from the conference will soon be available on the official website of Windows 8 Camp .

I would like to separately note the high level of organization of the event. Many thanks to Microsoft for drawing 5 Nokia Lumia 800 phones (not one, of which, however, we did not get) and for a delicious lunch! We really hope that this year’s DevCon'12 will be just as good :-)

DevExpress employees are approaching Mikhail Chernomordikov , holding the future in his hands:

Stas Pavlov (aka stasus ) on the fingers explains how easy it will be to implement all our controls on the new platform:

Our developer already represents how many new and interesting code he can write for Windows 8:
