At the end of the last working week, Intel quietly announced the release of several new processor models. Of course, it was not done without cheapening the old “stones”, which traditionally accompanies the emergence of new products, which this time turned out to be quite a lot.

Let's start with the most expensive and highly specialized. for servers, the company rolled out a whole series of quad-core Xeon Tigerton processors. The flagship of the line was the 2.93-gigahertz model X7350, which has an 8-megabyte cache and power consumption of 130 watts. It costs about 2300 US dollars. The rest, less powerful, representatives of the series consume 80 watts, and they cost much less. In particular, for the youngest model, Intel asks for $ 856. A little more about the new server processors can be found in
one of the recent posts .
As for the desktops, they are designed for a new Pentium Dual-Core model - a two-gigger E2180 processor worth just $ 84. As a result, the model E2160 fell to 74 dollars, and E2140 - up to 64 dollars. The Celeron D series, in turn, was not replenished by anything, but it underwent a slight depreciation of the two older models: the Celeron D 430 and 420 lost in price about $ 5.
Most changes occurred in a series of mobile processors. The most powerful novelty was the Core 2 Extreme X7900, the price of which is still unknown, and the series of “ordinary” notebook dual cores is now headed by the Core 2 Duo T7800 with a clock frequency of 2.6 GHz and a price tag of $ 530. The cost of previous models - the T7700 and T7500 - now amounts to 316 and 241 dollars, respectively. The T7250 model with a clock frequency of two gigahertz and a 667 MHz bus stands alone. The cost of this processor is 209 dollars.

It should be noted and the emergence of two models of Core 2 Solo - single-core processors with fairly low power consumption, megabytes of L2 cache and a relatively slow bus - only 533 MHz. The U2200 model with a clock frequency of 1.2 GHz costs $ 262, and the 1.06 GHz U2100 costs $ 241.
Intel has not forgotten about the Celeron M series, adding three new products: the two-gig Ceceron M 550 worth $ 134, the 1.73-gigahertz Celeron M 530 costing $ 86, and the 933-megahertz Celeron M 523 ULV. As a result, the model Celeron M 540 fell to 107 dollars.
