Even a relatively large screen - 4.3 inches - does not allow to reveal all the possibilities of working with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Extends the functionality of the smartphone special station PadFone Station, which looks like a stylish tablet with a 10.1-inch touchscreen. The whole secret in a special compartment for the Pad-phone. It is enough to install a smartphone into the compartment to instantly display an image from it on a 10-inch display.
The image is “expanded” by not simply scaling the pixels to fill the free space. It uses an innovative dynamic display technology, reconfiguring Android ICS on the big screen and increased resolution (1280 x 800).
Moreover, the state of each application when the PadFone station is disconnected is preserved. This means that literally everything from email to games can be resumed on the big screen since the last use. Say goodbye to the constant synchronization!

Placing PadFone inside the station, the user will receive a tablet with an additional battery, which increases the duration of work five times. PadFone-station uses all the mobile capabilities of the smartphone. Thus, only one SIM card is required.
In turn, the station-tablet has its own 1.3-megapixel (1280x800 pixels) camera in front, microUSB and microHDMI ports, a standard 3.5 mm audio jack and speakers with the well-known ASUS SonicMaster technology. Note that when connecting PadFone, you can use an 8-megapixel camera. The dimensions of the station are 273 x 176.9 x 13.5 mm, and the weight is 724 grams. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla glass with HCLR film.
This does not end the metamorphosis - you can connect an additional keyboard to the PadFone Station, turning the device into an analogue of the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer (unfortunately, the keyboard from the latter will not go to the PadFone Station). The keyboard also has a battery that increases PadFone battery life by almost nine times.

Separately, we will tell about the control capabilities using the stylus (PadFone Stylus Headset). In addition to the main function of working with the screen, it is also a Bluetooth-headset, allowing you to talk on the phone without getting it from the tablet.
More information about the device will be available in our next review. ASUS PadFone will enter the Russian market in May-June of this year. The recommended retail price for a set of ASUS PadFone and PadFone Station will be from 33,000 rubles.
