As I promised , our Commonwealth “ For a new social web ” - a branch, so to speak, of the collective harablog “ The Intelligent Social Web ” , delivers to its public conference room complete excerpts from discussions that may be of common interest . This time, the topic goes far beyond the interests of the Commonwealth, although it arose when discussing a purely internal question: On which platform to implement our resource . Participants in the discussion to which you are invited to join represent two diametrically opposed camps: ardent supporters and equally ardent opponents of Microsoft. Two irreconcilable camps into which almost the entire programmer community is now divided.
It all started with a dimgord replica (not a Habragrazhdanin - for now :)):
Considering the possibility of supplying our product for the Intranet, I am not sure that small-scale products should be used (in any case, be tied to them). ASP.NET and MS SQL in conjunction limit the range of users. Our office (not the smallest in the states, see www.ptc.com ) is a CAD / CAM developer on diesel, and on Windows only portraits.
In my experience, Microsoft products are often scolded (I mean products for web development), it is clear that this is the fashion. But basically these are only words that are not supported by arguments.
And it started ... join (here or on the Commonwealth forum). All the advantages, please, not me.Well, I accept cons :)
