Yesterday, in addition to the demonstration of Windows 8 Consumer Preview, which flooded almost all the news space on IT sites, several interesting events also happened at MWC 2012. One of them is certainly a demonstration of the recently announced Mozilla Boot to Gecko mobile operating system.
One of the observers Engadget was able to work on the Samsung Galaxy S II with Boot to Gecko. The journalist honestly notes that the system is still raw (however, Mozilla doesn’t insist on its readiness), as the smartphone managed to hang, and could only bring it back to life by pulling out the battery. However, B2G is fast, it took about two seconds to load, and a Mozilla representative said that it would be possible to install the system on any unlocked Android phones; the fund is also negotiating with Samsung manufacturers about the release of original B2G devices.
