Not so long ago, an article “On the benefits of communication” was prepared in the magazine “Point of Sales , prepared jointly with the TI Systems Company. Unified communications is a solution that is primarily focused on organizations with one or more branches, which, in essence, are trading networks. A special point in retail is the problem of interaction between employees involved in the supply chain management process, where time saving and consistency of actions are of particular importance. Unfortunately, the obvious fact is that the usual approval of contracts and other documents with suppliers is delayed for weeks, difficulties arise in finding the necessary information, and it is not possible to bring the information on changes to all involved employees in time, for example, in company policies, promotions and marketing activities.

So how can unified communications help retailers solve these problems? First of all, it is the unification of all separate parts of the company into a single communication space: central and regional offices, distribution centers, shops, warehouses. In addition, this system built on the basis of Microsoft Lync is all types of communication in one “window”. This includes telephony, chat, audio / video conferencing, and even the ability to work together on one document. All this ensures simple and effective communication between the managers of purchasing, logistics, marketing, sales and even contractors, wherever they are. All employees are always in touch. This solution is actively used in the European and US retail chains and gradually penetrates the Russian market. Lync is already implemented in such well-known retailers as the ABC of Taste, the Seventh Continent, etc.

What are the results? According to research, the minimum expected effect from the implementation of a unified communications system based on Lync is saving 1 hour of working time for each employee. And this gives a total annual savings of millions of rubles.
