Having gathered courage for my first post on Habré, I want to submit a beta to a design startup - the site
DesignTree.ru . According to the concept, this is microblogging design, in which the content is the author's design works, limited to 300x400px in size - only 120 000px or 120k. Most of the site materials are logos, corporate identity and font solutions posted by the authors themselves.
Campaigning and Slogans: Customers, Marketers, PR Managers, Advertising, Sales and Other Brothers will not have the right to vote - which usually only knows how, which is long and tediously talking about "sales promotion", "target audience", "brand image "- in general, about those people because of whom the worst option always goes to work. You, as designers, I hope you understand ... (from the text of the Live-presentation - especially for designers)
Historical background: The history of
DesignTree.ru began in 2007, when I started experimenting with CMF Drupal. Having built a simple blogging platform for design topics, I received an N-number of diverse materials / users - with little enthusiasm. In 2011, not without the influence of
dribbble.com , a new project concept emerged.
Format 120k - 300x400px: Design is a little more than just a beautiful picture. Design is an idea, it is a function. This is an object that is often used in various combinations. And there are problems here - designers and agencies went to the trend to make even the smallest objects such sophisticated submissions that it is sometimes difficult to understand where their design object is. In this sense, the supply for design is about the same as packaging for products - in the sense that supply is what ends up in the trash, often interfering with the customer at the decision-making stage. Those. for many types of design works, one way or another, it is necessary to separate the quality of the design object itself - and its supply / packaging. The design itself, and what is called “make-up lips” ... From here, the moral is that you don’t cram in 120k - and this is good! (from the text of the live presentation)
')
Motivation: I am an architect by training, and although I work in the web industry, I still remain a designer in my heart. Therefore, I want to do something useful / interesting in this area.
Engine, command, etc. : The site originally worked on Drupal 5. In the fall of 2011, we moved to version 6, radically remade almost everything, added a number of our modules, and got the current version. In fact, the site was made by me (
F8Web.ru ) + about 100 working hours of two invited programmers (mostly new modules).
Plans: In general, the main function of the current beta (quite raw) is to feel the audience and clarify the format of the release of the new version. So, for example, we have not fully implemented the “projects” function (thematic grouping of works) and there are a lot of important things. I have been postponing this post for quite a long time - internally arguing that the site is still raw ... it’s necessary to finish, etc. But on the other hand, critical feedback can also spur the site itself to further progress. Therefore, look at what is - on our “unpainted lips” - we will make them up with the results of your reactions.
Registration: By invite!
Ps. Initially, I thought of publishing it in the “Typography” section - but the administration administration decided that it was necessary to put it in “I am promoting”.
