At the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona, Fraunhofer IIS specialists demonstrated the world's first phone call in LTE networks using the AAC-ELD (Enhanced Low Delay AAC) audio codec, which provides Full-HD Voice quality.
Now most cellular networks use audio coding in the 3.5 kHz band, while human hearing is capable of perceiving the 20 kHz band. HD Voice codecs transmit in the 7 kHz band, and Full-HD Voice encodes and broadcasts the entire audible range, so the sound quality is now limited only by the microphone and speaker / headphone capabilities. Currently, Full-HD Voice is already used in several video conferencing systems, but for the first time such a codec is integrated into mobile phones (on the Android platform) and a real communication session between them has been held.
