Swedish IT specialist Richard Gatarsky with friends visited a small restaurant in the city of Norrköping and noticed how the administrator uses a computerized table reservation system. He marks occupied places, putting marks by a marker on the screen.
At first, Richard thought that some new tablets with unusual stylus were installed in the restaurant and asked to show how the innovative gadget works. But looking closer, he saw that it was the most common whiteboard marker. The administrator explained that he could have made a mark with a mouse, but it takes time, and in the evenings they have a lot of visitors and they cannot tell everyone: wait a second, now I’ll go to this menu item, click here, etc. In general, they can not keep customers waiting even a few seconds and therefore use the fastest and most convenient way - the marker. At the end of the working day, all marks are simply erased with a cloth. ')
This case is an excellent example of the fact that users do not always use the software as developers suggest.
