Hitachi released 7mm hard drive

The company Hitachi GST announced a new hard drive model, which was called the Travelstar Z7K500. According to the developers, this is the thinnest 2.5-inch hard drive, with 7200 rpm. This hard disk supports the SATA 3 standard, and also has a cache size of 32 MB. Among other things, this hard disk is quite resistant to overloads, so that it can be used in various kinds of devices for military, scientists and other categories of users.

It should be noted that this hard disk has only one plate, which accounts for the relatively low capacity of the device - up to 500 GB. Actually, quite recently this volume was considered very large, but even now for laptops and netbooks of some manufacturers 500 GB is a standard. The Hitachi hard disk has all the necessary interfaces, the thinness of the disk does not affect its practicality.

According to the company, drives like this may well be the standard, especially in the field of creating portable PCs, including nettops, netbooks, ultrabooks and others. In addition to size and resistance to overloads, the disk boasts improved performance. The same developers claim (to whom, if not to developers, to praise their offspring) that this hard drive is about a third more productive than any other 2.5-inch hard drives.

The model range includes models with a capacity of 500, 320 and 250 gigabytes. Unfortunately, nothing is known about the cost, but the period of silence will not last long - in March the discs will go on sale. One has to think that due to the general background of the increase in prices of hard drives, this model will not cost a couple of dollars.
