The Nintendo company decided to follow in the footsteps of its colleagues, Sony and Microsoft, and start delivering content to the owners of the Wii U game console. This device has already been written many times on Habré, and it is clear that the console may well be not just a gaming station, but also a central point media content delivery, for home users. Currently, the company’s management is negotiating with copyright holders, trying to conclude an agreement with the largest of them on the use of video content.
If everything goes according to plan, the future owners of this console can get all the necessary video content, without departing from their console. Of course, this will allow us to attract additional financial flows for the company, and gamers will use the console (and controllers / tablets) as a device for receiving and watching videos. Now negotiations are underway with companies such as the BBC, Comcast and some others.

As a test for video content, Nintendo launched the Hulu plus player last year to provide users with access to video. The company will focus on 3D technology, which is especially important for the 3DS portable game console. This console was released last year, and at the moment it can already be called successful. As for the Wii U, then with the addition of a large amount of video content, many console players will be able to get everything they need in the volume of this game console. And yes, judging by the latest data, the Wii U will support the 3D mode, so the management’s desire to translate everything into 3D is understandable.
It is worth noting that the new management plans go against the strategy outlined in 2000. Then it was stated that all the devices manufactured by the company will relate to games and games only. But it is clear that the times are changing, and the new plans of the company are just in line with the new trends among the companies developing game consoles.
