Open beta Ice Cream Sandwich available for installation on Sony Ericsson 2011

Good news for developers already from Sony Mobile : a beta version of the fourth Android has become available for installation on unlocked Xperia.

In the video above, you can see what Ice Cream Sandwich is like on the example of the Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S (recall that Android 4.0 will be available for installation on all 2011 models). In particular, features such as launching the camera and controlling the player right from the lock screen, an updated email client and speed dialing are already working.

Here it is important to make a small digression: as I already wrote , substantial, if not most of the time for preparing software updates, is taken by numerous certifications and checks. Now Sony and Mobile already work on ICS beta from Sony Mobile, but important features like Google Mobile Services (GMS) - Gmail, Google Maps, Face Unlock, etc., Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are still awaiting certification, so take advantage of them will not work. So this beta is not for personal use yet.

In general, Sony Mobile continues to take Sony Ericsson a year ago to maximize open relationships with the developer community and a separate line asked me to convey that this is one of the most important priorities of their work;)

All the details are traditionally in the Sony Mobile developer blog: developer.sonymobile.com/wp/2012/02/23/android-ice-cream-sandwich-beta-rom-available-for-unlocked-2011-xperia-smartphone-models
