Today, the App Store has more than 500,000 applications. He recently
stepped over the 25 billion download mark . At the same time, the App Store itself is far from perfect, and one of its most serious problems is the search. The situation is getting worse every day. New applications are becoming increasingly difficult to break up. But Apple hopes to solve this problem - just the other day the company bought the
Chomp application search platform.

In 2009, Chomp
received its first seed investments . Since then, he has learned to look also for Android apps. Moreover, now Chomp even has
an agreement with Verizon that the latter uses Chomp technology in its Android market to search for applications. Of course, with the purchase of Apple, this agreement is in question. Most likely, now everything will remain unchanged until the team and technology are fully transferred to Apple.
The exact terms of the transaction are not known, but apparently all investors should be satisfied. The purchase should not be cheap - Apple buys not only people in the state, but the entire technology, with the help of which it is planned to completely redo the search engine and recommendations in the App Store.
In total for two rounds of investment, Chomp raised $ 2.5 million. The company employs about 20 people, each of whom will now work at Apple. According to
9to5mac , CEO Chomp Ben Cagran and CTO Katie Edwards are already working at Apple. Cagran joined the iTunes marketing team, and Edwards is now the lead engineer for iTunes.
