Project Management: the film "The Man Who Changed Everything"

Perhaps I’ll discover America now, but suddenly there are people just like me who missed this movie in a movie. Actually, who would have thought that the historical cinema about baseball, and even Brad Pitt in the lead role, would be the best project management films that I have seen lately.

If you have not watched, then I strongly advise you to correct. In essence, this is a story about how a team's financial manager (read, a project) has to compete with other clubs in terms of a difference in funding 3-5 times.

Quote: "There are rich teams, there are poor teams, there is a 10-meter layer of shit, and we are under it."
')
Those. where other teams can hire more efficient players (read, more qualified staff) Brad Pitt is forced to re-invent the team building scheme. And he does this based on mathematical modeling and analysis of player statistics. No sports, pure math and rethinking goals.

As for me, so a very inspiring movie. As a bonus - a very good acting game (Oscar nominations for the best male roles of the first and second plan). Trailer under the cut:

I especially liked the moment when Pete put the coach in an impossible position and made him let out on the field the players he needed.

UPD: Quote from the biography of Billie Bean, whose role is played by Pitt:
“Bean replaced Elderson as general manager on October 17, 1997. He continued to promote Elderson’s policies, turning Athletics into one of the most cost-effective baseball teams. For example, in the 2006 season, Athletics was ranked 24th out of 30 teams of the Main League in terms of payment to players, but was fifth on the list of the best teams of the season. ”
