I sat on Arch Linux for a long time and wanted to check how old kind Ubuntu feels there. Especially I am used to Gnome Shell, so Unity will be nothing new, although the difference is obvious.
I was confronted with the fact that by default my sound was played in both channels - in the speakers and headphones. Googling I noticed that the answers were only with gray Ubuntu 6 or 8.
In general, the answer came by chance. In alsamixer:
$ alsamixer
There is a special option - Auto Mute:
Using the "Down" - "Up" buttons you can change the value of the option and, accordingly, enable (Enable) or disable (Disable) exhaust suppression in both directions.
