Hello to all. Four and a half months have passed since the
first article about the StoreBirds
project, a free password manager for the Chrome browser with the ability to install the server part on its host, was published. In the comments under it, I was clearly made to understand that the design of the project site is worthless and there is no road without it, besides the site was in English (or rather, in broken English :)). Well, actually, time was finally found to change the design of the project and its full translation into Russian. What happened with that, look under the cut.
First, I want to thank the author of
YourWest design, he created a beautiful and high-quality design, this is an invaluable help for me, since I would definitely not be able to cope with this task!
The functionality of the plug-in itself, in fact, has not changed, it remained the same as it was before, there were only some optimizations of the code and ordering of files on the server side of the project, and on the client side. The scripts of the updated server part of the project are on
GitHub (get the latest version), so you are welcome to download and use. I also added hints on each page of the site and wrote
detailed instructions on what means what, which button is responsible for what. Video rewrote already under the new design. There is a
section on the site and a mailbox (askstorebirds@gmail.com) for questions (the FAQ will be generated from them). Since in the last article I described how the encryption system works, encrypted traffic exchange and secure authorization in the project, I will not repeat (but I can if you ask). I will add only what for me, personally, makes “StoreBirds” exceptionally more convenient than other password managers. Well, firstly, the server part of the project is written in PHP, MySQL is used by the DBMS, the web server can be absolutely any (Apache or nginx, or whatever, it’s all the same, I use, for example, nginx on the service), I chose this bundle specifically because of its simplicity and prevalence. Secondly, it is a convenience, I, of course, understand that the more buttons and fifoche, the more possibilities ... but, and if they do not need anything? I singled out the most necessary functions for an ordinary user, that I removed something, added something ... to judge, of course, not to me, but, in my opinion, everything turned out conveniently. Once again, the main reason for creating “StoreBirds” was due to the fact that LastPass worked incorrectly with some sites, such as, for example, battle.net and sites on the “GWT” engine, and also that there was no quick lock button and unlock account (useful when moving away from the company, although you can Win + L). Thus, there was a desire to create your password manager, and so appeared “StoreBirds”.
There are already a lot of ideas in TO DO, in particular the first ones that will be implemented in the next update to StoreBirds, this is the ability to save tabs and links, so you can load the necessary (previously saved) tabs with a couple of mouse clicks. In general, if you have any suggestions, comments or suggestions, then unsubscribe them in the comments on this article, to me in a personal and / or to the mail askstorebirds@gmail.com
Take part in the development of the project! Thank you all for your attention. To be continued: )
