In Britain, can close access to The Pirate Bay

This week, a Supreme Court ruling was issued in London concerning the resource known to all of us The Pirate Bay. The decision was expected: both the resource itself and its users were recognized as copyright infringers. According to the court, both The Pirate Bay and users violate the rights of nine British labels at once, not to mention international companies. The decision also states that the administration of the service, if desired, could have avoided copyright infringement, and therefore, laws relating to the protection of copyright.

Among other things, the administration of the service was called the "instigators", that is, in the opinion of the same court, the founders of The Pirate Bay encourage users of the torrent tracker to use illegitimate content, which is also a crime. As a result of their activities, the founders make a profit - and this is another crime (profits are received illegally). Only in October last year, say experts involved in the investigation of this case, The Pirate Bay and its founders earned from 1.7 to 3 million US dollars.

The difficult moment is that The Pirate Bay has been operating for many years, which means that this resource has prompted users to violate the rights of copyright holders for many years. Among the companies affected by the actions of the founders of The Pirate Bay service and work are British labels, as well as Sony Music, EMI and Warner Music. These companies demanded that access to this resource be closed in Britain. Now lawyers of the specified companies actively try to achieve the decision on blocking.

Nevertheless, some experts, also involved in the case, believe that blocking the resource will not solve anything. The fact is that advanced users will still bypass the blocking, but usually the most “malicious” users who actively download pirated content are also the most advanced technically. Those. just for these users, the lock will not solve anything, they will work with the tracker as well as before.
