Intel has released a quad Tigerton for high-performance servers

Chip line Xeon 7300, called Tigerton - the first quad-core Intel processors, designed specifically for use in servers with four or more processors. According to Intel, compared with the Xeon 5300 chipset, Tigerton processors show significantly better performance in corporate applications, such as, for example, SAP AG ERP.

Intel announced the release of six versions of Tigerton processors. The top model X7350 operates at 2.93 GHz, and is equipped with an 8 MB cache. The maximum power consumption (TDP, thermal design power) of this chip will be 130 watts. Four more chips are characterized by a TDP of 80 watts. These are 2.4 gigahertz E7340 (8 MB cache) and E7330 (6 MB cache), 2.13 GHz E7320 and 1.6 GHz E7310 (both with 4 MB cache). Another processor (L7345) with a frequency of 1.86 GHz and an 8 MB cache is a 50-watt version of the Xeon 7300.

High performance performance Tigerton processors will cost not cheap: from $ 856 to $ 2301.
