The fact that Russian universities produce specialists unclaimed in the labor market, many say. Usually, talking ends. Very few companies in Russia go to contact with higher education institutions. But there are still such.
Last year, SkyDNS and Aydeko specialists prepared and delivered a course on UNIX Network Programming at the Ural Federal University (Ural Federal University). The special course was intended for students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics of Ural Federal University. “We announced it as a course for those who are not afraid of UNIX and C,” said Alexander Patrakov , leading developer of SkyDNS.
Fearless students found a little more than 10 people. Basically, students were 3 and 4 courses. For three months, Alexander Patrakov (SkyDNS) and Mark Korenberg (Aydeko) conducted 14 lessons for them. “We touched on the basics of network programming. Event processing cycles, timeouts, performance issues - all this has a place in our course, ”explained Alexander Patrakov. As a result, the course turned out to be quite fundamental - there are no short-lived topics in it. “The knowledge gained in this course will be relevant for at least 10 years,” notes Alexander Patrakov. All lectures were recorded. Especially for Habr, Alexander Patrakov selected the most informative of them and prepared for publication. Now weekly they will appear in this blog. In total, we plan to publish 10 videos. We hope that they will be useful.
Today is the first lecture. It lists the main system calls that are used in network programming. “There will be enough material to write your first UDP server and UDP client,” guarantees Alexander Patrakov.
