Microsoft OOXML will not become an ISO standard in 2007
Yesterday, the critical voting threshold was crossed , which put an end to the adoption of OOXML as a standard. Despite the fact that not all countries voted, the result is clear - 53% of countries voted “For” (minimum 66.66% needed) and 26% - “Against” (maximum 25% needed).
For the adoption of an international standard, it is necessary that 2/3 of the countries allowed to vote give positive votes for the adoption of the standard, negative votes must be no more than 1/4.
Microsoft plans to correct all comments made by the ISO committee and submit OOXML for re-voting in early 2008. ')
