About love, or how to declare love in English

It turns out that the word love appeared in English only in the 12th century.

Stop! And what happened before that? Did the harsh Anglo-Saxons "did not know the words of love?" They knew :) They also had lēof - dear, beloved, and lufu - friendliness, affection, love. Yes, the last word reminds you of nothing? :) It is from him that love comes.

From the 13th century, love becomes synonymous with beloved (he is my only love) and appeal to the beloved little man (I'm sorry, love ...). Now this is a universal word for describing addictions - I love football, affections - I love my dog, and, of course, fiery feelings - Oh boy, I love you so! (Oh boy - a steady, emotional expression: " God / Gosh, how I love you! ")

By the way, love can be confessed without the word love. For example, like this:
I adore you - I adore you .
I am better because of you - Thanks to you, I am changing for the better .
I want a lifetime with you. I want to live with you all my life .
I need you.
No matter what - I'll always be there no matter what happens .

Or like this (the list is far from complete):

You mean so much to me .
You are my all in all (my everything) - You are everything to me. / You are my everything!
You are the most precious thing I have .
You are my perfect match - We are made for each other .

And there is also a wonderful phrase: You make my heart skip a beat. The best literary translation, IMHO, belongs to the “Spleen” group: “My heart stopped, caught my breath a little and went wrong again.” :)
