Boston Dynamics, known for its upcoming end of the world prospective developments BigDog and Petman began testing the robot Boston Dynamics' LS3 in a natural environment. The LS3 (Legged Squad Support System), which was recently written about here, is based on the BigDog project and is adapted for military use. Its main task is to transport goods over rough terrain. During the tests, DARPA will test the ability of the robot to carry up to 400 pounds (180 kilograms) over distances up to 20 miles (30 kilometers) without refueling. True, the route is expected to be slow and difficult, so the estimated duration of such a trip is 24 hours.
