Programming Language Popularity Index for February 2012
The February ranking of programming languages published by Tiobe showed the following:
Java (first place) and C remain the most popular programming languages, and the latter’s separation from the leader is very small. However, the leadership of this pair is obvious.
PHP remains the most popular programming language for server-side web applications. Python and Perl are far behind him.
JavaScript is the top language for client web programming.
The share of Objective-C has significantly increased (5th place): the popularity of Apple products probably plays a role.
The share of object-oriented languages is about 50%, procedural - 36%.
When compiling a popularity rating, Tiobe takes into account the number of language specialists, the number of existing training courses on it, vendors that support the language, as well as the number of code indexed by search engines. ')
