A few days ago, the tracker
www.nyaa.eu (NyaaTorrents), internationally popular (among anime artists), turned off the tracker part (and left only the hosting of torrent files describing downloads).
According to the
statement of the Underwater group (known for its
release of unlicensed anime with English subtitles), the reason for disabling the tracker was the
rejection of the appeal of The Pirate Bay in the Swedish Supreme Court , which de facto means that bittorrent trackers are illegal in Sweden.
All torrent files on Neurorents were automatically overwritten so as to contain the
OpenBitTorrent tracker instead of their own, so that ordinary file sharing participants need only to re-download them (or manually add the tracker). It is clear that the accounting and rating of downloaded and distributed (and the calculation of sids and peers, which is sometimes more important) will henceforth be less simple.
