"FBI, give me back the files that I stored on MegaUpload" . Perhaps users will not get back their family photos, audio recordings, work files and everything else they could store on this popular hosting.
The Eastern Virginia Prosecutor’s Office (US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia)
reported that Carpathia Hosting and Cogent Communications will begin deleting all files on Thursday, February 2. MegaUpload paid for these hosters in Virginia, but now the company's accounts are blocked, so hosters release resources for other customers.
The letter says that in fact the FBI agents did not confiscate the servers and hard drives, but only copied some of the data from them. The equipment itself remains in data centers.

A lawyer of MegaUpload, together with the prosecutor's office, is trying to stop the data deletion procedure, because important evidence may be lost, as well as files of at least 50 million users (the lawyer said such a figure).
Probably, the US government should pay storage services to commercial hosters and make it before the end of the month? Alternatively, you can simply open the site MegaUpload.com for a couple of days.
