The morning began with a surprise. I received a letter about the need to extend the domain. Which I did not register. But which is registered to me and differs from mine, promoted, just one letter. With all my data. What would you think in this situation? The letter came from the administrator of the zone. Absolutely indistinguishable from authentic, including the correct headers. It is proposed to extend the domain xxxxx.kharkiv.ua despite the fact that I have the eponymous domain in the kharkov.ua zone and a very popular site on it. In the domain of the proposed domain renewal, my admin-c and all the data copied from my domain is in my domain. In general, all I thought was that this was a thoroughly played attack, so that I could check my domain, and my computer would be ignited and pass all passwords to the attackers. But of course, I will not log in anywhere until I install pure Linux ... and from under it ... You ask why the post is not in the "Information Security"? Because it was not hacking. It's just some goblins decided to give me a domain name. Smart people suggested a link to the news of six months ago:
From July 1, 2011, new domain zones are available for registration - .SM.UA and .KHARKIV.UA.The owners of domain names in .sumy.ua and .kharkov.ua zones, who registered their domain names before June 28, 2011, in honor of the opening of new domain zones, made gifts to their brethren - each owner of the .sumy.ua domain received a .sm.ua domain , and each owner of a domain name in the .kharkov.ua zone is .kharkiv.ua respectively.New domains in new zones are exact copies of their parallel domains, and their registration period is extended by 2 months.New domain names can be used as separate sites and are independent of each other. Domain names in .sm.ua and .kharkiv.ua zones will be added to customers in the order of processing applications. You can use them to create new sites or set up new domains with aliases. At the end of the domain registration period, you will need to renew it, if you need it.
Such a simple action put me in a panic for the morning hour and cost a pair of gray hair. Moral - dear registrars - do not do this, and if you do - notify the domain owners. Thank you in advance! I am writing a post because hundreds more people, probably even Habrovians, will receive such letters today and may get nervous.
