Today, Apple is celebrating its anniversary - 28 years since the release of its flagship Macintosh computer. This is hard to believe, but a quarter of a century has passed since the first version of this computer became the “talk of the town” in the computer industry. Mac brought a lot of innovation and became the pride of not only the company, but also its creator Steve Jobs.

Then the world saw a computer, which later gave life to a series of world-famous products. And it was he who advertised the famous movie "1984" . It was a personal computer using a graphical user interface, the idea of which Steve borrowed from the Xerox PARC research center, instead of the standard command line interface at that time.

Jeff Raskin was the ideological developer of the first computer costing up to $ 1,000, but he could not finish his project, since Steve Jobs, to put it mildly, forced him to retreat, after which he took the reins in his hands (before that he was working on too expensive Lisa). However, in spite of all the difficulties, the change of management went to the development for the benefit, for example, from Lisa the first Mac got the OS and the mouse.

The characteristics of the first Mac today may seem ridiculous, but then it was one of the most powerful PCs:

Processor: Motorola 68000 (8 MHz)
RAM: 128 KB
Display: 9 ″, monochrome (512 x 384 pixels)

And it is worth mentioning that the Macintosh became the first computer that told about itself.

Andy Herzfeld managed the impossible: in two days he wrote a music-playing program that could play a theme from The Chariots of Fire. But Jobs did not like computer sound transmission, and it was decided to use the recording. But Steve madly liked the speech generator, pronounced the written text with charming electronic pronon; Jobs included it in the presentation. “I want Macintosh to be the first computer to make itself known!” He insisted. Steve Hayden, a copywriter, the author of the movie "1984" , wrote the script, Steve Capps came up with a way by which
the name Macintosh appeared in large letters on the screen, and Susan Kare
preparing a headband for a greeting.
- This is stated in the biography of Steve Jobs , written by Walter Isaacson with the participation of Steve himself and his relatives last year.

The price of the finished product was $ 1995 in total, but later $ 500 was draped over for the image by Apple's chief executive John Sculley.
