DC Berzarina - our only data center in Moscow. It is organized like the rest of our data centers - a cold corridor, from where the equipment takes in cold air, uncontrolled temperature around the area (hot corridor), from where air conditioners take air for cooling (dehumidification, etc. - all this is “air conditioning” ) and release back to cold.

It consists of one very long server room, inside of which there is a long cold corridor (2x40 cabinets). This is somewhat different from the device of the rest DC, where there are several corridors.
')

The photo shows how we save
heat cold.
On the left you can see the stubs to the place of the missing servers, on the right - the film covering the unused cabinet as a whole. The film is more effective than the plugs, but it is used only for shielding completely unused racks. Although, of course, it looks, to put it mildly, not pompously.
Traditionally, the lower cold air intake is used, the holes are only where this air is needed. By the way, in the previous post I made a mistake - the height of the raised floor is as much as a meter, and not half a meter.
Entrance from two sides (in the photo the door to the cold corridor, the server itself is completely closed for serious metal doors):

View of the hot corridor. On the left - server cabinets, on the right - industrial air conditioners, which take the air from the hot "around", cool it and drive it under the floor. Above you can see the horizontal cable channel.

And this is what a “bare stand” looks like. Please note - 4 units are "wasted in vain" for electrical outlets, another 3U are occupied by automatons and electricity wiring. A total of 42U in the cabinet, the payload is 35U.

As, most likely, the readers noticed, this DC was not fully loaded, and yes, this is a
hint .
Fire fighting systems
In contrast to the DC at Flower, only support and security engineers are on duty at Berzarin. So automatic fire extinguishing system is required. Of course, it is gas (whether someone is morally prepared to have their server extinguished with powder). By the way, in the same photo you can estimate the height of the raised floor - the door to the room is at the height of the "real" floor "and the staircase leads up. The second entrance is used for lifting weights (on the left in the photo), where there are no stairs, but you can use the loader

Through these nozzles gas is fed into the cold corridor. Then it is under its own pressure and with the help of server fans distributed to the equipment and to the hot corridor.

Security
Traditionally, video surveillance, access to each room by RFID cards (I was there once, and I can say that the impression is depressing - you can’t even get to the bathroom without a card from the room for the attendants).

Access to the server is provided using a fingerprint reader. I can not say that this greatly increases the reliability of the system (see the corresponding series of
Mythbusters ), but once done - we use. Note, without a card in the server still does not get.

Cooling

This Uniflair TDCV2700A - precision air conditioners. When possible, we use free cooling (cooling of the refrigerant in the chillers with outside air), since the weather in Moscow allows us to do this for most of the year.

Air conditioners are reserved under the scheme N + 1.

Electricity
Yellow pipes lead to gas balloons (behind screens). The air conditioner is primitive, but the reason is simple: the task of bespereboynik - to keep the server until the diesels are running. To do this, the air in the room must be cold, and the air conditioner is turned off (as it is powered by the bespereboynik). As soon as the diesel engines turn on, the air conditioner will turn on, cooling the performance of the bespereboynik.

This is General Electrics SG-CE PurePulse S1, a total of 6 pieces. They are combined into two groups, in each group there are 2 main and one spare (N + 1 reservation).

In total, the DC provides 800 kW of power.

One of the diesel generators: diesel as diesel. Two starters, two own batteries to start:

Optics and communication channels
Optical channels are used to communicate with the world. There are two inputs into the data center, both through wells. Of course,
different wells. Optics goes to MMTS-9 (96 fibers), the same to M10. The gigabit channel connects Berzarin with our network in St. Petersburg. Aplinki: Retn, TeliaSonera.
