If you remember, two years ago, Andrei
and I ,
krevetka ,
created the obama-weather.com site, which was
shown almost immediately
on CNN and wrote about it in the
Wall Street Journal . I then wrote about this
post on Habré . Then I will tell you what happened after.

')
The first months of the site had a traffic of about tens of thousands of young people per day, mainly from the USA. The idea of monetization was to create the same application for the iPhone and sell it for a dollar thing. We did the application, but the AppStore did not miss it, telling us that we do not have the right to exploit the image of the president. I had to start the application with other characters, without Obama. For this reason, it received many negative evaluations: people did not read the description of the application, bought and were disappointed by the fact that the main character was missing. So our idea failed.
Then another half year the site worked with traffic of the order of several thousand people per day. Revenues from AdSense covered hosting, but no more. And this summer we sold the resource for an amount that did not cover the price of the time spent on development. Such a sad story!
Now we have made a second startup: this is an application called
Synchrony .

Now it works under VK, we will soon complete the version for Facebook and iPhone. The idea is this: users can choose from a limited list of wishes that they would like to offer to their friends. If friends do the same and the wishes match, the two users will be notified. If they do not match, no one will know. The application is designed for a young audience with a lot of desires and not enough arrogance. This time, we carefully thought out monetization: users can buy access to statistics, which lets you know how many people have added desires for you and which particular desires for you. But of course it does not allow to find out exactly who added them.
For a couple of days of work, we scored the following statistics:
More common: 62 (29%)
Have sex: 104 (48%)
Meet: 15 (7%)
Marry: 11 (5%)
Travel together: 25 (12%)
Resume communication: 15 (7%)
Kiss: 18 (8%)
Meet: 31 (14%)
Go to the movies: 29 (13%)
Something like that: 37 (17%)
Reconcile: 8 (4%)
Drink together: 31 (14%)
Talk: 43 (20%)
Moreover, the item "To have sex" is chosen mainly by men, and "Something Something" - by women. It is possible that with time we will be able to turn this project from a game into a sociological tool, giving statistics on what people want from each other and what they end up with.
