Jerry Yang permanently left Yahoo

After Jerry Yang resigned as chief executive of Yahoo in 2008, he remained on the board of directors, where he worked until now. But yesterday he announced his intention to leave the company, and never again work in it. In his message, Yang said that “the time has come to follow new ideas outside of Yahoo.

It is worth noting that Young founded the company 17 years ago, and still Yahoo! is one of the leaders in the IT field, despite all the problems, both financial and opportunistic nature. Young's partner was David Filo. Yang served as Yahoo's CEO until January 2009 (in fact, Yang’s shift occurred in 2008).

Currently, the chair of the board of directors of this corporation is Roy Bostock, who, in fact, exercises the leadership of Yahoo. Bostock has previously fired Carol Bartz from Yahoo's CEO post, and until recently this company was virtually without leadership. The other day, the appointment of Scott Thompson from PayPal, which has become the company's new CEO, has passed. After Thompson’s candidacy was approved (and agreed with Yang), Yahoo’s founder left the company.

The reasons for leaving Young are still unclear - whether he is really going to start a new project, or if he is tired of constantly feeling the pressure of disgruntled shareholders of the company who continue to lose money after the unsuccessful decision of Young in 2008 when he refused to sell Microsoft. In any case, Young will no longer work in the company he founded.
