The world's first “self-healing” Nissan IPhone case
There are hundreds of thousands of covers that promise to protect gadgets from external damage. The well-known automaker introduced the world's first case that can "heal" itself independently. The technology of this miracle case was borrowed from the auto business. This is a “self-repairing” paint, which Nissan has successfully applied since 2005 in various car models (Murano and X-Trail). Now, thanks to the collaboration of Nissan with the University of Tokyo and Advanced Softmaterials, this case has been developed.
The outer paint coat of the case is made of polyrotaxane material, which has the property of reforming. When a small scratch appears, the material reacts quickly to this, filling the gap to return to its original shape. However, it is noted that the cover will not cope with significant damage to the paint layer.
While Nissan offers test samples of covers to representatives of the media and potential customers. If the product is in demand, it will go into mass production until the end of the year (for iPhone 4 and 4S models). I am sure that if necessary, Androids will not be offended either.
