At the end of 2011, RZD conducted tests of broadband Internet access services, cellular communications and television.
Access is via satellite communications and 3G. During the disappearance of the satellite signal, the complex switched to 3G communication and vice versa. Inside the train, the signal was heard over Wi-Fi.
“Thus, this technology provided access to the Internet at speeds up to 4 Mbit / s for 80% of the areas covered. It should be noted that the best results were recorded on the Moscow-Adler section, and a high-level signal was present on almost the entire route, which indicates that it is possible in principle for the passengers to sell the requested service on the trains of JSC FPC on the eve of the Winter Olympics in Sochi. ”
The launch of a pilot project for the implementation of these services is scheduled for the end of 2012.
