A fresh look at computer keyboards

Excuse: what is going to be discussed in the article was invented by a not entirely sober brain, and most likely will never be realized in real life.

I think most habravchan already accustomed to those keyboards that can be found every day. But thanks to one small modification, typing can be turned into a rather amusing exercise. Interesting?

Everyone knows that the letters are of different sizes.

What does the font size usually show?

There are many options, you can conditionally divide them into the following categories:

• The degree of importance of the text. Example: headings are usually more font size than body text. But “more” does not always mean “more important.” All sorts of scam user agreement do-you-know-what-font size.

The essence

Once I had a chance to see one good midi-keyboard. From the features I liked the fact that the volume of the sound of the note varied depending on the strength of the impact on the key. Then my not sober brain gave birth to the idea of ​​screwing a similar functionality to a conventional computer keyboard, only changing the font size | color saturation | something else instead of the sound volume. In the process of the party, the idea was deposited in the far corner of memory, and it has just surfaced.

Is it possible, and how?

It would be desirable to discuss this with the Habra community. Now it seems to me that it is possible for me to fasten a sufficiently sensitive vibration sensor | accelerometer to the keyboard and process its readings on a PC with some kind of program (for this, you can not be too lazy and write it yourself). It is necessary to include in the functionality: sensor settings for the printer (not all the same with the same force on the kavish), the internal text editor with all the features or connection to the Word settings to choose from.

UPD2: At my request, the author also added the Shift mode. In this mode, the letters are typed in small letters, in the same font size, but when you swipe a button, it is capitalized. To adjust to your own impact force, use the microphone sensitivity slider.

Will there be a PROFIT?

There will be.
First: you can use such a keyboard as an emotion detector. Neutral text will be typed relatively smoothly, emotionally touching - in large print.
Secondly: having developed an idea, a kind of lie detector is possible.
Thirdly: again, by developing the idea from the first paragraph, you can arrange for testing small focus groups. We write the text, for example, “I love yogurt, I can't live without it. He is so tasty, wholesome ... ”etc. We suggest people to reprint, we get an interesting statistic.
Fourthly: the letters that we are looking for a long time, usually push harder. So you can use as a kind of typing tutor.
Fifth (suggested frig ): you can also register the time between keystrokes when typing. Not just the number of characters per minute, but between every two characters, and the combination of these parameters can be folded such a person's handwriting on the keyboard. It can even be used to determine who is currently at the computer. With a high degree of recognition - even for security reasons.
