British student lost extradition case for piracy

The 23-year-old British student Richard O'Dwyer (Richard O'Dwyer) still lost the extradition court battle. The Westminster Court issued a verdict ( PDF ) that O'Dvier falls under the Extradition Act 2003 between the United Kingdom and the United States. Now, O'Dware's lawyer will appeal this decision to a higher court.

Richard O'Dwyer was arrested by British police in June 2011 on a tip from the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He is the founder of the search site TVShack.net, where from 2007 to 2010 there were links to pirated copies of films and television programs.

Although Richard closed the site back in November 2010 (after the police came to his home and confiscated all the computers), his case is crucial for the American authorities. In March 2011, they still sent an extradition request to the UK. Richard O'Dwyer may be the first person in the world to be extradited to the United States on such a charge.
