From scraps of information from the Internet, I learned the following about the insides:
The laptop came to me by chance, but right on my birthday. It was nice. Fully working except for a dead battery, but I think that if you set a goal and it can be restored. In the laptop, the cover with the battery compartment is broken off (probably by me), except for this laptop is completely working.
Under the cut a lot of poor-quality images so no offense. And there sometimes it seems that there is a lot of free space between photos. In fact, there is a white wall there, but I don’t know how to remove it so that it is all beautiful, so I will have to endure this white arrogance.
The screen is glossy, and the photographer of me is bad, so I apologize for reflecting myself and the tripod in the screen.
The power supply case is made of good thick metal, but it is not remarkable for this. Firstly, the connector for the power cord is classic, like on any monitor or desktop today, thanks to this, there were no problems connecting the laptop to electricity, thanks to the developers (nowadays, by the way, not every laptop can boast such versatility ). Secondly, from the power supply to the laptop go two wires: for power and for charging. And if my memory does not lie to me, then for a long time I read somewhere that they need to be connected in some particular order, otherwise the collapse of the universe.
Moreover, the wires for power and charging have jacks of different thickness: charging will fit into the power supply, but vice versa. Well, the jacks are painted in different colors so as not to confuse. Thought about the little things.
And for LPT, I have an excellent dot-matrix printer that works great, but only with English fonts. And for this pre-revolutionary COM port, I have an external analog modem. If someone tells me what dosov pribludu for walking into the wonderful world of http and which will fit in 720kb - try to show a miracle.
There is no winchester in the laptop, and instead of them there are 2 floppy drives (thanks for not a tape recorder!). 3.5 "floppy disks can only be formatted in 720 Kb, formatting with doubled recording density is useless. The floppy mechanics are made with kinesthetic, I'm sure of that, because you can insert a floppy disk and press the eject button indefinitely. Buttons are pressed with a very pleasant effort. The keyboard is wonderful, mechanical, but on it a strange layout. When clicked, it clicks nicely (you can listen to it in the video), but strange with shifta: there is one full-size shift on the right, a small one on the left, some edit shift in place of the current win and a cap on the right in the menu. In capslock and numlock embedded LEDs. At the same time, edit shift works as a capslock, but in a mechanical mode: the button remains pressed until the next pressing. What is the meaning of duplication is incomprehensible to me, maybe it works like fn, but I still do not understand.
And the keyboard goes. This compensates for the insufficiently large opening angle of the screen: you can put the laptop on the stand and put the keyboard on the table. In a high-quality connector, a regular telephone connector is used, and at the end, under the thermocallic, there is probably a magnetic ring to eliminate interference. Whether the interference was earlier than it is now, or the paranoiac was developing this laptop. Inside the laptop there are special grooves for the wire where it is inserted when removing the keyboard. And in this picture you can estimate the layout. I think that it is not much worse than modern notebooks (taking this opportunity, I want to say hello to the keyboard layout of old Thinkpads)
As I said the screen is glossy. In the photos below you can see the tripod, on the video below you can see everything. Just like a mirror. It would seem that 15 years have passed, and glossy screens still do. There is no backlight, but it is possible to adjust the contat. This will be seen in the first video.
