The French presented their own robot car

Robots cars are becoming more common. So far, of course, all these cars are just pilot projects, and the most famous project is Google's self-driving cars. However, other companies are starting to create their own projects. Recently, a project of French developers was introduced, called IFSTTAR. In the sequel, there are photos and videos of the car on "autopilot", so that everything can be well considered.

Several companies are taking part in the project, including the IFSTTAR, the Research Institute of the Embedded Electronic Systems Research Institute, and ESIGELEC. The goal of the development team is to create a reliable vehicle management system that avoids human involvement in all this complex business.

“Robot-driver”, created by these developers, can control the trajectory of movement, speed, and even driving style. At the same time, the system is reliable enough - at least, on the trial test the accident did not happen. The project used the Renault Grand Espace, equipped with a “robot-driver”, sensors, cameras and a control center located on the roof.

In total there are three cameras installed here that let the robot know about obstacles and the state of the path. The system is able to recognize the road markings and drive the car in accordance with all relevant road traffic regulations in France. In the first test, the researchers drove the car using a controller, but the second launch was already autonomous, without human intervention. It is worth noting that the system recognizes pedestrians and other cars.
