Bing for the first time overtook Yahoo search service in popularity



According to the analytical agency comScore, in December 2011, Microsoft’s search service took a larger share of the US search market than Yahoo’s search service. This happened for the first time, but for the most part the reason for what happened is the loss of part of the search market for Yahoo. In December, Bing added only 0.1% of its own share, while Yahoo lost 0.6%, which is a rather tangible loss.

In any case, the Bing team can celebrate, as the share of this search service, although a little, continues to grow. By the way, recently Bing is 3 years old. It is worth noting that the search service from Microsoft is a platform for Yahoo search. In December 2010, Bing owned 12% of the search market in the United States, while the figure for Yahoo was 16%. The growth of Bing is largely due to the successful policy of Microsoft Corporation - the search engine team is doing everything possible to popularize it.

At the same time, Yahoo continues to lose ground. Back in 2000, the search service of this company gave way to the Google search engine. At about the same time, the search service of the "Corporation of Good" became as famous as Yahoo was known. For another four years, both companies have been competing on equal terms, but since 2004, Yahoo has experienced a period of crisis, which is still ongoing. 2008 was particularly unfortunate for Yahoo, when Yang, the former CEO of this company, refused to sell Yahoo to Microsoft.

Now both Yahoo and Bing are very far from Google, this company owns 65.9% of the search market, according to comScore. And the popularity of Google is not going to fall - in December, the search service gained another 0.5%.
