Alibaba Group may become the new owner of Yahoo

One of the largest IT companies in China, Alibaba Group, is one of the most realistic bidders for acquiring assets from Yahoo. Now this group is negotiating a loan of $ 4 billion with various banks, plus it is working with the Duberstein Group, which is something of a PR agency.

As for the loan, everything is clear here - buying Yahoo, even in its current state, will cost the buyer many billions of dollars. But working with the Duberstein Group is necessary for the Alibaba Group in order to help deal with purely opportunistic and political problems in the event of a purchase. The fact is that many US lawmakers may not be very happy with the fact that a large American IT company was acquired by a Chinese company. Indeed, in China strict censorship is practiced, both on the web and outside it, and Yahoo Mail is still the most popular mail service in the United States.

Many major businessmen and politicians in the United States have mail on Yahoo, and these people are unlikely to be happy with the fact that their private mail can be, so to speak, perused by some enterprising Chinese comrade. The Duberstein Group agency should help the Chinese cope with this problem, heeding the unrest among American politicians and businessmen. The lobby of the Duberstein Group is quite strong; it also includes several major US political figures.

As for the loan, $ 4 billion is now being prepared by such companies as Credit Suisse Group AG, DBS Bank Ltd., Deutsche Bank AG and Mizuho Corporate Bank Ltd. Even for these banks, 4 billion is a large amount, so a few more banks will join the group of creditors. In any case, this is the information provided by Bloomberg.

Apparently, the deal between Alibaba Group and Yahoo still takes place, and soon the assets of the last company will move to China. But, of course, anything else can happen, there is the possibility that at the last moment some other buyer will appear, ready to offer even a larger amount than Alibaba Group can provide.
