PayPal may ask the buyer to destroy the item for a refund

How many users of PayPal fully read the rules for using the system? Here, for example, one of the points of the rules that governs the return of money, in case the seller and the buyer cannot solve the conflict situation on their own:
The item is subject to the payment of an order. <...> Paypal

It turns out that PayPal for a refund may require the buyer to simply destroy the goods and send them confirmation of this.

Surely, Mrs. Erica, who sold a French violin from the Second World War for $ 2500 on eBay to some Canadian, was pleased with the successful deal. However, the buyer did not like the label pasted inside the violin. In fact, on the market for the sale of old violins, these labels very often cause controversy among connoisseurs. Even some of the most expensive violins in the world have controversial labels, but this does not negate their uniqueness and value. In addition, before selling the violin was examined by the master, who confirmed its origin and age.

It would seem that the problem could be solved by simply sending the violin back from Canada to the seller, but PayPal offered the buyer an alternative option: to break the “fake” violin and provide her photo so that they would return the money. What, in fact, the buyer did. Erica writes that the buyer was so proud of his act that he even sent her a photo of what was left of the work of art.

In the end, Erika was left without money and without a violin, valued at $ 2500. Now her goal was to highlight this precedent, so that PayPal did not ask to destroy antiquarian values in which they themselves do not understand anything.

PayPal, in turn, reported that they are studying this issue, but now they will not be able to return the violin exactly.
