The new law requires Wi-Fi in all restaurants of the capital of Malaysia

Kuala lumpur

According to The Times New Straits Press , all restaurants in Kuala Lumpur will now have to provide Wi-Fi Internet. The implementation of the new law will begin in April of this year, and will be a prerequisite for gastronomic institutions in obtaining or renewing a license.

Back in 2008, a total of 1,500 free Wi-Fi access points were provided through the city service WirelessKL. With the new changes, existing Wi-Fi points will stop their work. When asked why the municipality did not continue the work of free WirelessKL, Ahmad Fouad said that the city authorities want to give other service providers the opportunity to offer better communication and additional services for citizens.

The law also applies to cafes, pubs, bars and club halls, if their area is more than 120 square meters. m

Although compulsory innovation is extremely aggressive, it should solve the problem of Internet access in all places of public catering. As a person who works on his computer all the time, I always wonder how many cafes throughout Russia and Europe still do not provide free Wi-Fi.

On the other hand, I find it difficult to predict how much forcing a business to innovate will affect the price of their services.

Do you think this practice would take root and will the law show positive results in Malaysia?
