For a long time I wanted to have a separate piece of hardware for an external terminal for Linux computers, and therefore I was looking for an old laptop to use it for this purpose. Joy came suddenly, - the girl’s acquaintance said that he had an old laptop, which was also a worker, and it was impossible to get past this.

Small TTX
Processor :
80386SX, 20.0 MHz
Memory :
2 MB soldered + 2x FPM RAM 8 MB
')
Hard drive :
80MB
Floppy drive :
1.44 MB
View from the left edge (here we have a com port):

Rear view (PS / 2, COM, LPT, VGA, and incomprehensible output for expansion cards):

View from the right edge (here the drive hides under the hood):

I got the computer in a very poor condition, but quite working, except for as such the absence of a battery. Therefore, it was decided to disassemble and clean it. And also to install 2 memory bars for which there were slots, but the memory itself was not observed there.
For disassembly it is necessary to unscrew the 3 screws under the plugs

and removing the keyboard, we gain access to the memory and some of the stuffing.

Here we see display loops, bios, 2 memory slots, and a processor.
Removing the top panel, we see the hard drive and floppy drive.

Separately hard disk (80 megabytes):

And drive:

And here, in the process of disassembling, a very sad detail emerged, namely, a broken cable from the drive, which I unfortunately do not have the ability to repair.

After disassembling, the entire device was washed with a plastic cleaner, and it became clean without different stains, stains and traces of time. Unfortunately, the case lacks one latch on the monitor lid and plugs for the ports.
After all these terrible operations it is time for the most interesting, the inclusion of this devil machine. A little pouduv speaker, before us appears "IBM Personal Computer Basic"

Unfortunately, because of a non-working disk drive, something else could not be loaded.
However, the device, despite its solid age, pleases us with its performance, I think with a good soldering iron and skill, it is quite possible to turn this sample into a good typewriter or something more interesting. Initially a barbaric idea appeared, removing all the old stuffing with the exception of the screen, transplanting a mini computer like the
Raspberry Pi inside, but after that it was decided that this laptop will bring a whole lot more joy to someone. Therefore, I propose to exchange it for something interesting (for example, a laptop of a younger age to turn it into a terminal).
