The first full year of our hosting was not easy, as many of you have noticed. However, we leave it in high spirits : work is stabilized , cloud storage is working , and now in test mode we have launched the ability to create virtual machines with customized software templates. LAMP, LEMP and several popular CMS (Wordpress, Drupal, others), as well as the Ajenti control panel are currently available. "A great achievement for the second decade of the XXI century," - read to the end. By itself, the ability to get ready Wordpress would not be worth mentioning - this is true. Much more important are the opportunities that the implementation of these templates opens up for us, our clients and the developers.
As Tom Limoncelli rightly pointed out, system administrators sooner or later come to use configuration management. That is why to deploy templates we use Chef - one of the most advanced configuration management systems today.

The template deployment algorithm is extremely simple: the virtual machine starts up, Chef Solo is installed in it and the required Chef recipe is run, which actually installs and configures the software (taking into account the data - for example, the domain, the administrator's login and password transmitted from the control panel).
The recipes that are used, we do not hide from anyone: they are available on GitHub . Our plugin for knife , an interface tool for the Chef API, is also available.
Thanks to these tools, you can both use Chef to centrally manage the configurations of your servers on Clodo, as well as to distribute your software in the form of a turnkey solution that includes a virtual server configured to work with this software. The project of distribution of virtual machine templates is only gaining momentum, so we will be very pleased with your wishes and comments. In addition, if you want to distribute your product on our servers, you can create a Chef-recipe (it will still be useful, the thing is extremely useful, believe me) and send it to us at info@clodo.ru. We will definitely consider your product and it is possible that it will be available for installation by the time the virtual machine template project is released from the testing stage.
