If you lower the bar for issuing invitations from 100 points to 50, then there will be three times more invites.
There are a lot of people who want to get an invite and there are intelligent people among them who, although they don’t bother to write a big topic for the sandbox, would be very useful as commentators.
Also, once a year I would distribute invites to those who were active and behaved well in the outgoing year.
For example, to all users with positive karma, who wrote 50 comments for this year.
