Future of IT: Following the CNews Forum 2011

More than 1,000 people took part in the discussion on the trends of ICT development in our country, held at the CNews Forum 2011. Among them were representatives of the public sector, IT and telecom companies.

In the framework of the business program, more than 50 speakers spoke at the “Public Sector”, “Retail”, “Cloud Technologies”, “Banks” and “Information Security” sections. At the 24 stands of the exhibition hall, their solutions were presented by various IT companies, from software developers to data center operators.

We are especially interested in the discussion about cloud technologies. This direction is one of the most promising for the development of Russian telecoms.



The cloud computing market today, according to CNews Analytics, is in a phase of high expectations and will become mature not earlier than 2013-2014. According to our estimates, Russian users will spend about $ 245 million on cloud-services in 2013. The results of a survey of Karavan’s clients showed that cloud-based services are suitable for working with web projects (62% of respondents) for workplace virtualization (44%) and for mail servers (36%).

Experts who presented their case studies on the section of the same name differently see the use of cloud technologies in business: from creating a hybrid infrastructure (DEPO Computers) to private clouds based on the provider (Orange Business Services). But all the arguments, one way or another, boil down to the need to unleash the potential of these efficient technologies.

If you look into the near future, the development of cloud services will lead to an increase in basic areas for telecom, including data centers.
